The goal of refractive surgery

Refractive eye surgeries like PRK and LASIK are intended to improve vision. The way this is done is by reshaping the cornea. Both procedures achieve results with an excimer laser. The primary difference between them is that LASIK involves the creation of a flap to provide access only to the tissue beneath the cornea. In PRK, no flap is created. For this reason, recovery may take a bit longer. There are, however, advantages that make PRK more suitable for some patients.
